Tokenz today announced that it has provided payments and tax infrastructure to support the official launch of PlayOne, a game matching platform operated by a subsidiary of Lanfan Group (listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange), in both Japan and South Korea.
ImplementationHighlights & Results
Through this partnership, PlayOne entered the Japan and Korea markets in as little as three months—without the burden of building a local payment stack or navigating complex regulatory requirements on its own. Beyond payment processing, Tokenz provides a one-stop service that includes country-specific consumption tax calculation, local-currency invoicing, and multilingual customer support.
PlayOne has now officially launched in both countries and supports payments in Japanese yen and Korean won. Users can choose from more than 200 locally preferred payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, e-money, and convenience-store payments.
Value of the Tokenz Solution
Tokenz adopts a Merchant of Record (MoR) model, handling payment acceptance and the associated tax and compliance processes—often the biggest barriers for overseas companies entering Japan and Korea. This allows client companies to focus on core product development and marketing while accelerating time-to-market and enabling scalable growth.
“Matching-based services like PlayOne have strong growth potential across Asia. In particular, success in Japan and Korea requires flexible localization and reliable payment infrastructure to meet diverse user needs,” said Po-Huan Lin, CEO of Tokenz. “We are delighted to partner with PlayOne through our MoR model and to help make their expansion possible.”
About PlayOne
PlayOne is a Taiwan-born matching platform that connects gamers with “Play Pals” (game hosts). Users can search for and book Play Pals on the site and complete payment in a seamless flow. Gameplay takes place in online games selected by each party, with voice chat and other in-game communication tools.
Lanfan Group is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and operates a diverse portfolio across gaming, entertainment, and technology. This partnership is drawing attention as an example of successful international expansion by a Taiwanese digital services company.
Outlook
Tokenz will continue to provide localized payments infrastructure to digital content companies expanding across Asia, helping them overcome regional operational and compliance challenges. Within 2025, Tokenz plans to extend support to key Southeast Asian markets to enable more companies to scale internationally.
PlayOne is now live in both Japan and Korea and will continue, together with Tokenz, to enhance features and accelerate expansion across the broader Asian market.
