Tokenz today announced that its payment gateway solution has been adopted for the digital store of “Grand Summoners,” the popular mobile game operated by NextNinja.
The Tokenz payment solution has been available on the game’s global store since May 26, 2025 (http://global.grandsummoners.com/shop/index.html).
■ Background
“Grand Summoners” has built a strong fanbase not only in Japan, but also in North America and other international markets. While NextNinja had previously operated an off-app payment site primarily for domestic users, expanding the store experience for overseas players revealed several operational and compliance challenges.
• Payment method limitations:
Existing services could not sufficiently support local payment methods in key overseas markets, reducing convenience for international users.
•Cost control:
Platform fees of up to 30% on Apple/Google materially impacted margins on digital sales.
•Tax compliance complexity:
Managing indirect tax and regulatory requirements across countries increased workload and compliance risk.
To address these challenges, NextNinja selected Tokenz - Japan’s only Merchant of Record (MoR) payment provider headquartered domestically - enabling access to 200+ payment methods worldwide while streamlining cross-border tax compliance.
■ Results After Implementation
Since implementing Tokenz, NextNinja has realized the following outcomes:
1. Rapid adoption by overseas users
As early as the day after launch, approximately 40% of North American purchasers chose Tokenz’s off-app payment option. By offering locally preferred payment methods, the store experience has improved significantly for international users.
2. Substantially reduced payment fees
Tokenz delivers payment processing fees of less than half those typically associated with major app platforms such as Apple and Google. The resulting savings can be reinvested in promotions and user value—supporting continued revenue growth.
3. Lowered global tax and compliance risk
Tokenz’s Merchant of Record service automates tax calculation, collection, and remittance requirements across 220+ countries and regions, significantly reducing internal workload and mitigating compliance exposure associated with cross-border digital sales.
